The sketch was inspired by a real Chicago restaurant called Hub’s Restaurant.
According to Hub’s Restaurant, an SNL staffer frequently ate there, and the restaurant eventually inspired the two famous “You like-a da juice, ah?” sketches.
The first sketch, “Hub’s Gyros,” aired on April 10, 1993, during Season 18, Episode 17.
That connection gives the sketch an especially interesting place in SNL history.
