Dr Harrison stood at the bottom of the stairs.
He was no longer wearing his white coat.
He wore a dark suit.

None of them looked like doctors.
Two carried flashlights.

The last man locked the basement door.
Claire immediately stepped closer to Ethan.

“Dr Harrison,” Ethan said.

“You should not have come here.”
Ethan laughed bitterly.
“You should not have put that device inside my wife.”
Claire stared at Harrison.
“Was it you?”
The doctor looked at her.
“Yes.”
Claire's face collapsed.
“Why?”

He looked toward the wall covered with photographs.
“You were the most successful subject.”
Claire's eyes filled with tears.
“Subject?”
“You were never supposed to know.”

“She was your patient.”
“She was part of a research program.”
