Played by Chris Kattan, Suel is one of the strangest recurring characters from the 1990s era of Saturday Night Live.
In the “Drill Sergeant” sketch, Suel becomes an army drill instructor whose commands are delivered with such unintelligible speech that his own soldiers struggle to understand even the simplest orders.
The result is classic SNL absurdity.

Suel Forrester was a recurring character created and performed by Chris Kattan.
The character first appeared on Saturday Night Live in March 1996.
The joke was remarkably simple.
Suel would take on jobs where clear communication was absolutely essential.
Then he would speak almost entirely in incomprehensible gibberish.
According to the SNL character archive, Suel appeared eight times between 1996 and 2001, taking on roles including substitute teacher, drill sergeant, air traffic controller, game-show host, talk-show host, trial attorney, basketball coach, and movie director.
